Among the responsibilities given to Restoration College International is that of ensuring that believers are schooled in all truth being restored to the church (1 Thessalonians 3:9-10). As we look at church history from 1500 until now, we see a progressive revelation of Biblical truth falling into four categories we know as Evangelical, Pentecostal, Charismatic and Kingdom Theology.
The Evangelical Movement embraces "milk of the word" doctrines (I Peter 2:1-2), those which are the first needed and the easiest to understand such as the New Birth, Water Baptism, Return of Jesus, Final Judgment, Infallibility of Scripture and consists of main line Protestant denominations.
The Pentecostal Movement went a "little deeper" in revelation by receiving the truth of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with all nine gifts in manifestation, and a doctrine of Sanctification, or "holy living". This led to the Healing Revivals of the mid 1900's.
Then came the Charismatic Movement which brought the "meat of the word" teaching (1 Corinthians 3:2). This includes such things like the Word of Faith message, Positional Truths, Davidic Worship and Prosperity.
The "present truth" (2 Peter 1:12) message called Kingdom Theology teaches Divine Government, Five Fold Ministries, Spiritual Warfare, Intercession and Spiritual Fathering, which are "strong meat" messages (Hebrews 5:11-14). What we call Restoration Theology encompasses the truth revealed in each movement, bringing all the streams together into a Mighty river of God "There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God (church)" - Psalm 46:4 This is what the Apostle Paul ment when he told the Thessalonians "I long to see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith" ( I Thessalonians 3:10 ). Simply put, this means to complete their understanding of God's Word.
